Borussia Mönchengladbach's 3-0 win over Heidenheim was sweetened by the return of Tim Kleindienst from a lengthy injury layoff.

The 30-year-old was sidelined for almost 200 days with a meniscus injury sustained last May and spoke of his return after yesterday's game.

"Coming on was a very special moment for me. There’s nothing better than being back out on the pitch after a long injury.

"I also want to thank the fans again for the way they welcomed me. Overall, I think we looked very stable throughout the match and gave very little away.

“We’re playing with more maturity at the moment and we’re switched on defensively. It’s not all perfect yet, but we’ve built a foundation we can work from,” he added.

The Rhineland club will be more than glad to see Kleindienst return given he chipped in with 16 goals and 10 assists in 33 games last season.
