Mainz winger moves to HSV on loan

Hamburger SV have signed Marco Richter on loan from Mainz.

Mainz 05 winger Marco Richter has joined Hamburger SV on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

Richter, 26, has yet to make an appearance for Mainz this season and will be hoping for more regular playing time for the 2. Bundesliga club.

"The loan to Hamburger SV gives Marco the opportunity to get more playing time, which is of course very important for him. That is why we have agreed to his loan request. We wish him all the best for his time in Hamburg," said Mainz 05 sporting director Christian Heidel.

HSV sporting director and former Germany U21 coach Stefan Kuntz said:

"Marco and I know each other from our time together at the DFB. We've never lost touch since then and I've always followed Marco's career.

“In the last few days, the opportunity arose at very short notice to convince Marco to join us on loan.”
