Matthäus: "Bayern have gone to their limits with Upamecano"

The ex-Bayern midfielder believes the club made an excellent offer to Dayot Upamecano and shouldn't have put up with his or his agents' indecision.

After several sources reported his decision to stay at Bayern, Lothar Matthäus discussed the Dayot Upamecano transfer saga in his column.

"Bayern have gone to their limits with Upamecano. The offer that the club has made to the player is outstanding.

“Normally, when you are presented with such a [favourable] contract, you have to sign it the next day,” he added.

The former German international midfielder opinion that Bayern should not participate in these games over a new deal:

"The club is obliged to say: "Now I'm going to put a stop to it at some point. Then no Upamecano beyond the current season, but we'll try to get a new player!"

It appears the 27-year-old has finally agreed to the deal and was, in fact, caught in the middle of his agents hard-balling the Bavarian club.
