Bild reported on Friday that Manuel Neuer missed Bayern Munich's final training session before Saturday's Bundesliga home game against Heidenheim.
And as Bayern coach Vincent Kompany revealed at his pre-match press conference, Neuer will miss the game along with Serge Gnabry, who missed Tuesday's 1-0 DFB-Pokal defeat at Bayer Leverkusen with a knee problem.
“Manuel Neuer has rib problems. It also looks like Serge Gnabry won't be involved," Kompany said at a press conference on Friday.
Asked to clarify once and for all if that means that the duo are unavailable, he replied:
"Serge won't be there, Neuer won't be there. That's as clear as it gets."
Daniel Peretz, who replaced Neuer when the veteran was sent off against Leverkusen, will start in goal, Kompany confirmed.
Kompany was also asked about Aleksandar Pavlovic, who recently said he feels back to full fitness after recovering from a broken collarbone.
Kompany wouldn't confirm a starting place for the youngster, but made it clear that he's ready to play.
“Pavlo is available. There's no limit on how long he can play. He's not played for a while, but he's available,” said the Bayern coach.
In addition to Neuer and Gnabry, Bayern will have to manage without Hiroki Ito (foot), Harry Kane (hamstring), Joao Palhinha (groin) and Josip Stanisic (knee).
