Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer was full of praise for his side after their 2-0 victory over Atlético Madrid, with goals from Lennart Karl and Konrad Laimer securing all three points in the Spanish capital.
The 40-year-old returned between the posts after missing Bayern's previous three matches through injury, while assistant coach Aaron Danks took charge in the absence of Vincent Kompany.
Speaking to Amazon Prime after the final whistle, Neuer felt Bayern had been in complete control despite their recent injury problems.
"I'd say it was total dominance from the first minute to the 93rd. Whatever Atlético threw at us, we always had an answer.
"And we're incredibly happy, especially considering the circumstances and the fact that we've had to make some adjustments due to injuries and everything that's happened at FC Bayern in recent days.
"But I think we stuck together, gave everything we had, and made sure we could enjoy a team performance like this today. It was exceptional."
The Bayern captain also acknowledged that not everyone had expected such a convincing performance against Diego Simeone's side, particularly away from home.
"We always stick together, stand united and have an answer to everything. I think there were probably some people who doubted whether we could go away to a good team and get a result today, especially given how difficult it is to win here.
"Atlético are also just two points behind Barça in the league. So not everyone necessarily expected this. To deliver a performance like that and respond to those doubts is sensational."
Atléti's Metropolitano will also host the Champions League final on 5 June 2027, potentially offering Neuer the opportunity to finish his career on Europe's biggest stage if Bayern were to make the final at the end of the season.
Asked whether the stadium would be a fitting venue to play his final match should he decide to retire at the end of the season, Neuer responded: "Yes, absolutely. And perhaps winning here now is also a good omen.
"Of course, it's a tough, challenging road for all of us, for all the teams who are usually favourites and contenders to make it to the final here.
"We believe we can do it. We have what it takes, and we'll give everything to make it happen."
