Bellingham fined, but avoids suspension for match-fixing remarks
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham has been fined for his "match-fixing" comments directed at referee Felix Zwayer, but will escape suspension.
Jude Bellingham has been fined €40,000 for his controversial comments about referee Felix Zwayer following Borussia Dortmund's 2-3 loss to Bayern München last week, but has avoided suspension.
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder hit out at Zwayer in a post-match interview with Viaplay and referred to the fact that the referee was handed a six-month ban by the German Football Association (DFB) after a match-fixing scandal in 2005, saying:
"You give a referee, that has match fixed before, the biggest game in Germany, what do you expect?
The German Football Association's Sports Court has fined the England international, deeming his statement to be "unsporting behavior", but he will not miss any games as a result of his remarks.
