What had been rumored for over a month was officially confirmed on Thursday afternoon. USMNT U-20 captain Caden Clark's move to the Bundesliga has been deferred once again. Bundesliga club RB Leipzig announced that they had extended the working contract of the 18-year-old for an additional year, through the end of the 2024/25 season.

The young talent will nevertheless head back to the MLS for another year-long-loan with sister club RB New York. The American professional football league's season kicks off this month and (playoffs inclusive) runs through the end of November 2022. New York Red Bull sporting director Kevin Thelwell declared himself "pleased" to be retaining Clark's services for another year and even hinted that the U.S. club may attempt to extend the deal longer.
