VfL Bochum have shed one player off their relatively large roster with a loan-out of fullback Jannes Horn. The 25-year-old arrived in the Revier from 1. FC Köln on a free transfer this past offseason, yet was unable to contribute to the squads defensive corps in the manner hopes. Injuries and sickness limited Horn to just two league and one cup appearance thus far this year.

Horn will spend the duration of the season with 1. FC Nürnberg in the German second division. The Middle Franconian club, who have also obtained Schalke's Florian Flick for the second half of the season, announced the move as part of a double transaction that also saw striker Manuel Wintzheimer loaned out to Eintracht Braunschweig.

Germany's Kicker magazine reports that Bochum may be preparing to offload another player soon. Winger Taris Bonga, who has not yet featured for the VfL this season, is already being tested out by Braunschweig. An loan deal for the Congolese attacker could be concluded soon.

VfL sporting direct cot Patrick Fabian, having recently added the likes of Keven Schlotterbeck and Pierre Kunde Malong to his payroll, is clearly in the midst of cutting down the roster to handle the new players. Bochum sit in the second automatic relegation slot (17th place) as the Bundesliga prepares to resume.
