Kovac reveals that Paredes is out and Kaminski is a doubt for Leipzig
VfL Wolfsburg trainer Niko Kovac revealed that he will likely be missing two attacking wingers in this weekend's clash with RB Leipzig.
Like virtually everyone else who follows German football, VfL Wolfsburg trainer Niko Kovac noted that he was very much looking forward to seeing RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku back in action this weekend. The head-coach of Germany's northern "Autostädter" labelled Nkunku's return a chance for his own squad to "measure itself against the best."
As for how things were going in his own squad, Kovac noted that a minor wave of sickness had permeated his camp. American winger Kevin Paredes - whom Kovac had regularly been turning to off the bench - will be unavailable due to cold-like symptoms. Polish attacker Jakub Kaminski - a starter in five of Wolfsburg's six fixtures since play resumed in the new calendar year - may also have to miss out.
Kovac dodged questions as to whether he planned to start the obvious candidate to replace Kaminski, want-away Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, on the left flank. The gaffer noted that, with Lukas Nmecha's fitness levels steadily improving, he might start Nmecha alongside Jonas Wind in a double striker set.
