Having already shown interest in the player during the summer of 2022, Borussia Dortmund are apparently back at work trying to secure the services of Dutch left-back Ian Ethan Maatsen of Chelsea FC. Germany's Sport Bild tabloid reports that the Ruhr-based Bundesliga side wishes to acquire the Dutch youth international on a short-term loan from the Londoners.

Maatsen continues to work mostly in relief for Mauricio Pochettino's Blues after returning from his third loan stint this past summer. Dortmund can offer the 21-year-old left rail player more playing time as they have a great need for assistance on his preferred flank. Algerian left0-back Ramy Bensebaini - in poor form for his German club - will likely also spend January on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The German tabloid reports that the BVB administrative team seeks a short-term loan-deal with a purchase option. Maatsen maintains an estimated market worth of €20 million in the latest transfermarkt listings. Previous loan-outs from his parent club saw him sent out to Charlton Athletic, Coventry City and Burnley.
