And while RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff Mintzlaff admits that Werner currently doesn't want to sign a new deal, he underlines that talks with Bayern over the striker are yet to take place.
"The situation is still the same. Timo Werner would rather not sign an extension. But that could change. I don't think it's completely out of the question that he could extend his deal. Everything will be further discussed after the season," Mintzlaff told Sky and added:
"We haven't talked to Bayern München about Timo Werner yet. It's important for us what Timo Werner wants. I think Timo wanted to see how the season would develop. We said at some point that it would be more important for us to qualify for the Champions League and get in the cup final than to talk about Timo Werner every day.
"Maybe he doesn't even want to go to Munich. Maybe he would rather join [Thomas] Tuchel in Paris, [Jürgen] Klopp at Liverpool or [Lucien] Favre at Dortmund," the RB Leipzig boss said.
Werner and RB Leipzig will be up against Bayern München in the DFB-Pokal final on May 25.
