Despite being a natural centre-back, Benjamin Pavard is mostly being used as a right-back for both Bayern München and France.

And while the 24-year-old underlines he's happy as long as he's playing, he admits that he would ideally like to play in the central defence.

"I'm happy when I'm on the pitch - whether as a right-back or centre-back. But having said that, I prefer playing in the central defence," Pavard said in an interview with Sport1 and continued:

"Generally, I see myself as a defensively thinking player, who can be used flexibly. I think it's very important and helpful for a coach that I can play in all four positions in defence."

Asked about his relationship with Bayern coach Hansi Flick, Pavard responded:

"We have a very good relationship. He's a coach, who's very close to his players - whether they're in the starting eleven or substitutes. We get along well, and if he has something to say to me, he will always say it straight to my face. He communicates a lot with us. He often explains to me in one-on-one conversations how I can improve even further."
