Bayer Leverkusen beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 thanks to a late goal from Florian Wirtz.

17-year-old Florian Wirtz scored the winning goal as Bayer Leverkusen edged Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at BayArena in the Bundesliga on Tuesday.

Leverkusen were deservedly 1-0 up at the break thanks to a goal from Moussa Diaby, but Dortmund grew into the game in the second half and found the equaliser in the 67th minute through Julian Brandt.

With 10 minutes left, Florian Wirtz ruthlessly finished off a counter-attacking move to restore Leverkusen's lead and earn the home side all three points.

The result means Leverkusen climb into second, on points with RB Leipzig, who face Union Berlin tomorrow. Dortmund remain fourth.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, Gladbach beat Werder Bremen 1-0, Hertha fell to a 0-3 defeat at home to Hoffenheim while Wolfsburg took a 2-0 victory over Mainz.
