SV Werder Bremen will be without Justin Njinmah for the coming weeks.

The attacker injured his ankle in the sixth minute of Werder's away win in Mainz after a foul that led to Marvin Ducksch's penalty opener.

An MRI scan on Monday revealed that Njinmah has suffered a ligament injury, and he is now expected to be out for four to six weeks.

“This is bad news for us, but especially for Justin,” said Werder Bremen coach Ole Werner.

“After his long absence at the end of the season, he was on the verge of getting back to 100 percent. We will give him all the support we can on his way back to the pitch.”
