Borussia Dortmund have sealed the signing of Maximilian Beier from TSG Hoffenheim.

The 21-year-old striker has put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Black and Yellows.

“After selling Niclas Füllkrug, we needed to act. We really wanted to bring in a young player with outstanding potential who we can help develop into a top-level international player in the medium term, and Maximilian Beier fits that profile exactly," said Borussia Dortmund managing director for sport Lars Ricken.

"We’ve now managed to sign all our five transfer targets this summer, including three German internationals. Several top European clubs were battling for Maximilian’s signature, and we’re delighted that he quickly decided he wanted to come to Borussia Dortmund.”

Beier, who scored 16 goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances for Hoffenheim last season, commented:

“I’m really excited to take this next major step in my career. I had a fantastic feeling from the moment I first spoke to Borussia Dortmund, because I could tell that they really wanted to bring me here.

"I’m proud that I now play for one of the best teams in Europe, and I can’t wait to get started and to put a smile on the fans’ faces. The club’s goals are the same as mine: we want to win titles. And I’ll do everything I can to make that happen.”
