Giovanni Reyna has left Borussia Mönchengladbach to join French top-flight side Racing Strasbourg. According to Transfermarkt, the transfer fee is €3 million, which is less than what Gladbach paid to sign the United States international from Borussia Dortmund last summer.

After his return from the World Cup, he left Gladbach’s training camp to complete his move to Strasbourg. Reyna signed a contract until 2031 as long-term contracts are standard with BlueCo management.

Reyna has only appeared in 19 Bundesliga games for Gladbach. He played 147 games in all competitions for Borussia Dortmund in the previous six seasons. Reyna was part of the United States squad that reached the Round of 16 in the 2026 World Cup.

“Gio (Reyna) is an excellent player who unfortunately only showed glimpses of his potential during his year here. He was unable to consistently demonstrate his ability on the pitch due to several injuries. We wish him all the best and every success in this exciting challenge in France.” said Gladbach’s Head of Sports Rouven Schröder.
