At the tail end of October, it was reported that Manchester City were considering recalling Claudio Echeverri from his loan at Leverkusen.

However, Bayer 04's managing director of sport Simon Rolfes has since cooled speculation over the 19-year-old's future.

“I’m in frequent contact with City; we have a very good relationship. That’s why we’re not just exchanging information about this game.

"Of course, we all hoped that Claudio would play more and reach a higher fitness level more quickly after his injury in the summer.

"No question, we’ll discuss his situation. But it’s still open, and for now, Claudio is with us. That’s the current situation.

“And there’s no reason to make a decision about it right now,” explained Rolfes, insisting the Argentine ought to get his chance.

Echeverri was an unused substitute for the Rhinelanders during their 3-1 win over VfL Wolfsburg last Saturday afternoon.
