After two successive wins, Freiburg suffered a shock 0-3 defeat against St. Pauli on Saturday as the newly promoted side won their first game of the season.

Speaking after the game, in which Freiburg missed a penalty and had two goals disallowed, head coach Julian Schuster said he felt the scoreline flattered St. Pauli.

"0-3 sounds very clear. I didn't think it was that clear. The important thing is that we learn from it. St Pauli defended deep, which presented us with new challenges. We created chances, but we didn't take them," said Schuster in a post-match interview.

“We didn't give them many chances. But we should have done a better job of defending the chances they did create. You get punished for that in the Bundesliga.”
