Germany centre-back Jonathan Tah believes Saturday’s 2–1 comeback win over Côte d’Ivoire shows the team possess the qualities needed to go far at the World Cup.

“We showed winning mentality and team spirit. I think that is exactly what you need to be successful in a tournament,” Tah said in a post-match interview.

Tah and Germany fell behind when Franck Kessié made it 1-0 in the first half, but fought back to win the game thanks to Deniz Undav’s second-half brace.

“We didn’t give up, we knew that we would wear the opponent down at some point. We just kept going. Everyone did outstandingly well. The way Deniz came on was simply outstanding,” Tah added.
