Union Berlin target Wiesbaden striker, Kicker reports

Germany's Kicker Magazine reports that 1. FC Union Berlin's summer search for a new striker is once again leading them to Hessen.

Some 11 months after signing Benedict Hollerbach from then promoted 2. Bundesliga side SV Wehen Wiesbaden, it appears as if 1. FC Union Berlin are once again looking to the Hessen-based club for an attacking reinforcement. Croatian striker Ivan Prtajin led Wehen in scoring both during their promotion n campaign in 2022/23 and during their 2023/24 season in the German second division; during which they were relegated back to the 3. Liga via the playoffs.

German journalist Jannis Klimburg of Germany's preeminent footballing publication reports that die Eisernen are targeting the 28-year-old. Prtajin scored 13 goals and chipped in three assists in 31 league appearances for Wiesbaden this season. He added an additional two goals in the DFB Pokal and also scored in the relegation playoffs. Klimburg reports that Prtajin is available via a reasonable €1 million release clause in his current contract.
