Laszlo Benes has joined Union Berlin on a permanent basis from Hamburger SV.

Union have reportedly triggered a release clause in Benes' contract to sign him.

"Union are a very good club in Germany,” said Benes.

“I'm looking forward to getting to know the team soon, and my motivation is to perform again in the Bundesliga and to support the club in their sporting goals in the best possible way," added the midfielder, who is representing Slovakia at Euro 2024.

Horst Helst, Union's designated director of men's professional football, commented:

"In László, we are gaining a versatile midfielder who can always create chances with his set pieces, among other things.

“In addition, he has already gained a lot of valuable experience in German football in recent years, which is why we are convinced that he will strengthen our team."
