Wolfsburg confirm Schäfer departure
VfL Wolfsburg have confirmed that Marcel Schäfer is leaving his position as managing director for sport with immediate effect.
Marcel Schäfer's time as managing director for sport of VfL Wolfsburg has come to an end.
In a statement on Wednesday, Die Wölfe confirmed that the 39-year-old has informed the club of his wish to "move clubs" and terminate his contract.
“Sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz will assume control of sporting matters in close cooperation with head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl,” the statement read.
According to reports, Schäfer is set to become the new managing director for sport of RB Leipzig.
