Xabi Alonso discusses possible rotation for Wolfsburg clash
Given that Bayer Leverkusen played away against Feyenoord in the Champions League on Thursday, there is certainly a possibility that Xabi Alonso will rotate his team for Sunday's Bundesliga clash against Wolfsburg.
As usual, however, the Spaniard didn't reveal much at his pre-match press conference.
"We have a day to recover and tomorrow we'll make the final preparations for the game," said Alonso.
The Spaniard didn't want to use the word "rotation", but wouldn't rule out making changes.
"We have a good squad and no injured players. That gives us some options to make decisions," Alonso said.
Florian Wirtz is one of the players who could be rested after playing a lot of minutes this season.
"Yes, he's played a lot with us, also with the national team," Alonso admitted.
"But we'll see. It's too early to decide," he said.
With Lukas Hradecky getting the nod in the Champions League on Thursday, there is reason to believe that Matej Kovar could get a rare start in goal.
"We'll see. It's the same answer for everyone," said Alonso, keeping his cards close to his chest.
Nordi Mukiele, who Alonso said is ready for more playing time, is another player who could be rotated into the team.
