Arminia Bielefeld secured a big win away from home on Sunday afternoon as they beat Magdeburg to climb to tenth place. Magdeburg are only four points behind their guests, but they’re now in the relegation/promotion place.

Maximilian Bauer, who joined Bielefeld on loan from Augsburg, scored the opener with a powerful header from Tim Handwerker’s corner-kick. Benjamin Boakye sealed the win with a counterattacking goal two minutes before the end of regular time.

Magdeburg lost three of their last four games, with the other being a classic 5-4 victory over Greuther Fürth. Bielefeld won back-to-back games for the first time since the first two matchdays on their return to 2. Bundesliga.

Mitch Kniat’s side will hope to extend their streak when they host bottom-placed Fürth on Friday. On the contrary, Magdeburg will travel to league leaders Schalke 04.
