SC Paderborn missed yet another chance to climb to the top three in 2. Bundesliga as they were held by Bochum. The hosts extended their unbeaten run to nine games, although only three of them ended with wins.
After successive defeats to Holstein Kiel and Fortuna Düsseldorf on the road, Paderborn were once again second best in terms of creating chances. Dennis Seimen had made decent saves in the first-half, while a penalty-kick decision was reversed after a VAR check confirmed the in-form Kōji Miyoshi was in an offside position.
Steffen Tigges had the only chance of the half for the visitors in injury-time. Bochum’s Japanese star continued to be thwarted by Seimen after the restart as Uwe Rösler’s side only managed to climb to ninth in the standings.
They will also miss the services of Miyoshi and Philipp Strompf in next weekend’s home game against Nürnberg as both players saw their fifth yellow cards of the season. Paderborn will hope for a third successive win at Home Deluxe Arena when they entertain an equally inconsistent side, Hertha BSC.
