Alonso to make late decision on Frimpong's involvement against Hoffenheim

Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso says he hasn't yet decided whether Jeremie Frimpong will start against Hoffenheim.

During the international break, Jeremie Frimpong was forced to leave the Netherlands camp due to "private circumstances".

He only returned to Leverkusen on Friday, meaning he has just one training session with the team before Saturday's Bundesliga away game against Hoffenheim.

By comparison, the two alternatives at right wing-back, Nathan Tella and Arthur, have been training in Leverkusen throughout the international break.

In light of this, Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso revealed on Friday that he has not yet decided who will start on the right side of defense on Saturday.

“I want to wait for the last training session. I have an idea, but there are still a few positions we need to discuss,” Alonso said at a press conference.

The Bayer 04 coach also confirmed that Exequiel Palacios is fit and available again after recovering from injury.

“We used the international break, so he could train a bit with the team again and make progress, and he did well,” said the Spaniard.
