Bayern Munich are close to finalizing the purchase of Sportpark Unterhaching in order to become the new home ground of the women's team, BR24 can report.

The deal will provide Bayern with a bigger and more sustainable venue for their women's team, while the sale will provide financial relief for SpVgg Unterhaching.

“We're in the third division and Regionalliga, after all. That's not so bad, but it's always difficult financially and always a fight for survival.

"The floodlights, policing issues, bringing the pitch heating up to standard, and so on. We said we didn't know if we could manage it (Note: These costs will then be covered by the new owner, Bayern).

“I'm confident we can finalize it smoothly. For us, not much will change, only the owner and the landlord. There couldn't be a better partner on the landlord's side,” explained club president Manfred Schwabl.

Unterhaching also recently incurred significant fines for a lack of a coaching license and has had to seek investors to improve infrastructure, so the deal will come as welcome relief.
