Bayern hold talks with Olise's agent over Frenchman's public image

Michael Olise has made headlines not only for his performances on the pitch but also for his unusual public appearances since joining Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace in 2024.

The 24-year-old tends to be very brief during television interviews, usually answering questions with just a short sentence, while he goes through the obligatory “Player of the Match” photos holding a trophy without changing his expression.

Other examples include Olise only briefly raising the trophy above his head during Bayern’s title celebrations on the balcony of Munich’s city hall at Marienplatz and hiding behind his teammates in the championship photo so he would not be visible.
 

Meeting appears to have had an effect

According to Sport Bild, Olise’s behaviour has repeatedly been discussed internally, with Bayern keen to understand why the Frenchman keeps such a distance from the public and sometimes makes unusual public appearances.

The report further claims that the club sat down with Olise’s agent, Glen Tweneboah, to discuss how to present his client’s image more positively in public, also in the club’s interests.

From Bayern’s perspective, the hope was that the meeting would encourage the star to be more open at marketing and sponsor events, for example, and to smile occasionally.

The report adds that the conversation appears to have had the desired effect, with the club now more satisfied with Olise’s public image and feeling that he is making a greater effort to represent Bayern positively.
 

Popular among teammates

Olise’s teammates have repeatedly said that he presents himself very differently away from the cameras, describing him as a funny and popular character, particularly in the dressing room.

However, according to Sport Bild, his teammates have also noticed that Olise needs time to let unfamiliar people get close to him, build trust and overcome his shyness.

The report suggests that Olise has a very traditional view of football, believing that the team should be at the centre rather than the individual star. This could partly explain why the 24-year-old doesn't enjoy being in the public spotlight or talking about himself.

Olise is also highly regarded by his teammates because of his professionalism. He's often one of the first players to arrive at Bayern’s training ground on Säbener Straße, while he also puts in extra work on the pitch and in the gym.
