Bayern to make late decision on attacker for Bodø/Glimt clash

Having worked his way back from the adductor injury he suffered in April, Serge Gnabry is closing in on a return to full fitness.

With the 31-year-old back in team training, Bayern are now set to make a late decision on whether he is ready to return to the squad for Thursday’s Champions League clash with Bodø/Glimt.

“With Serge Gnabry, we have to see and speak after training - there's a possibility he could be involved. We want to be sure that he feels his best, though,” FC Bayern coach Vincent Kompany said at his pre-match press conference.

"If it's not today, it will be soon, then we'll have everyone available. The main thing is that we've not forgotten how good he was last season. Our aim is for him to get back to that level. We know his qualities. The quicker he comes back the better, we want him for the whole season. When Serge reaches his level, everyone else in that position also has to be good, then you have that competition and sharpness."

Kompany also provided an update on Jamal Musiala, who made his return to action off the bench in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Schalke 04.

The German international had missed Bayern's previous games after suffering two collapses caused by absence seizures linked to a neurological condition during pre-season.

“Jamal Musiala has played some minutes now but is still being built up. He's felt good since being back training with the team. We're as close to possible to normality, but we also need to be patient,” Kompany said.
