Bayern Munich kick off their 2026/27 Champions League campaign on Thursday when they host Norwegian outfit Bodø/Glimt at the Allianz Arena, with kick-off scheduled for 21:00 CEST.
The Bavarians began the season with comfortable wins over Borussia Dortmund (2-1, DFL-Supercup), VfB Stuttgart (5-1, Bundesliga) and VfL Osnabrück (4-1, DFB-Pokal) before surprisingly being held to a goalless draw by newly-promoted Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Bayern star duo Michael Olise and Harry Kane only came off the bench against Schalke, with head coach Vincent Kompany explaining that their late returns from the World Cup were behind his decision to rest them.
On the bright side for Bayern, that should leave the two attacking stars fresher for Thursday's Champions League opener, with Kompany expected to field his strongest available XI as Bayern look to bounce back.
One of the surprise packages of last season's Champions League, Bodø/Glimt reached the round of 16 before being eliminated by Sporting CP.
The Norwegian side have also made a promising start to the new season and have not tasted defeat since a 0-1 loss to Molde on May 4.
After seeing off Belgian side Royale Union SG and Dutch outfit NEC Nijmegen in qualifying, Bodø/Glimt are ready to compete in the league phase once again and are now set to face Bayern Munich for the first time ever.
Team news and predicted lineups:
After missing Bayern Munich's first three competitive matches of the season following two collapses caused by absence seizures linked to a neurological condition during pre-season, Jamal Musiala returned to action off the bench against Schalke 04.
Bayern's only confirmed absence is Serge Gnabry, who continues to recover from the adductor injury he suffered last season.
For Bodø/Glimt, Håkon Evjen is unavailable with a knee injury, while Jostein Gundersen is a doubt.
