The German Football Association (DFB) announced that May 12th will be the day Julian Nagelsmann announces his initial squad for the World Cup. This will mean that Monday’s game against Ghana will be the last fixture before the Bundestrainer picks his team for the big event.

FIFA expect the final 26-man list at the beginning of June, but all the players in there should be included in the preliminary list that could expand to 55 names. The location for the May 12th announcement, which will take place four days before the final Bundesliga matchday, is yet to be specified.

Germany plan to begin their final preparation at a training camp in Herzogenaurach on May 25th. Following a friendly game against Finland in Mainz, they will face co-hosts USA in Chicago as the final warm-up fixture.

Nagelsmann’s troops will kick off their tournament against debutants Curaçao on June 14th in Houston. Germany were knocked out of the group stages in successive tournaments following their 2014 triumph in Brazil.
