Eintracht Frankfurt suffered a major injury blow in their 0-3 defeat to Atalanta on Wednesday, as Jonathan Burkardt was forced off with a muscle problem.

According to Sky Germany, the club’s star forward is now expected to be sidelined until January and this could make Eintracht push even harder to sign a striker during the winter transfer window.

The German media outlet reports that Niclas Füllkrug is among the options being considered by Die Adler.

Füllkrug, who has already been linked with several other German clubs, is looking to leave West Ham in the winter and is expected to cost around €10 million.

An alternative is Newcastle United’s William Osula, who nearly joined Eintracht during the summer transfer window.

The Danish forward would be significantly more expensive, with Sky estimating that Newcastle would demand around €25 million to sell.
