With four goals and five assists in 20 matches across all competitions, Fabio Vieira has made a real impact for Hamburger SV since joining on loan from Arsenal during the summer transfer window.

Given his influence, HSV are keen to keep the 25-year-old beyond the summer – but the big question is how to make it happen.

According to Sport Bild, the club plan to meet with Vieira and his agency, Gestifute, by April at the latest to discuss the next steps.

The report claims that Vieira himself has decided he does not want to return to England, having struggled to make an impact following his €35 million move from FC Porto in 2023.

This could work in HSV’s favour, but the €20 million purchase option included in the loan deal presents a challenge for HSV, who may try to negotiate the fee down.

A realistic fee for the Bundesliga side could be €10-12 million, roughly half the original clause, though it’s unclear whether Arsenal would accept a reduction to finally take Vieira off their payroll.
