Kaiserslautern snap up Dortmund academy prospect Tazemeta

The versatile attacker, capable of playing anywhere across the front three, is moving to Betzenberg.

Thierry Tazemeta, formerly of Borussia Dortmund's youth academy, has officially joined 1.FC Kaiserslautern ahead of next season.

Tazemeta made a total of 27 appearances for Dortmund's U-19 team last campaign, registering an impressive (15 goals and 9 assists.

"We at 1.FC Kaiserslautern welcome a top international talent," said club sporting director Marcel Klos, of the U-21 Austrian star.

“He is a technically gifted player who stands out for his physicality and speed and his ability to make runs in behind makes him versatile in attack.”

The 18-year-old himself explained that he simply couldn't pass up an opportunity to join one of the 2. Bundesliga's biggest teams

"You don't say no to a club like 1. FC Kaiserslautern, which has so much tradition. When the offer came, I was immediately wide-eyed and very happy.

"I had very good talks with the management and immediately felt a lot of confidence in me," the versatile attacker said.
