Borussia Mönchengladbach captain Tim Kleindienst has undergone a successful arthroscopic procedure on his knee.
The centre-forward won’t be available for the next few weeks, however, but a return to action should come sooner rather than later.
Kleindienst made his return from a long spell on the sidelines on Matchday 11 against his former club 1.FC Heidenheim.
He had two more brief appearances after that in the Bundesliga against RB Leipzig and the DFB-Pokal game against St. Pauli.
However, he suffered pain in his knee during the St.Pauli game which ultimately brought another setback for the striker.
Further tests showed that a minimally invasive surgery was required and that procedure has since been successfully carried out the club confirmed.
“It’s tough for Tim and tough for Borussia, but you have to expect things like this when you have such a lengthy injury as Tim had.
“Tim has worked really hard throughout his rehab over the past months and will do so again this time.
"I’m confident we’ll see him back on the pitch again soon,” said Gladbach's head of sports Rouven Schröder.
