German footballing magazine Kicker reports that Arminia Bielefeld are set to pick up former VfB Stuttgart captain Gonzalo Castro as a boost for the Rückrunde.

Thirty-four-year-old veteran midfielder Gonzalo Castro's Bundesliga career apparently isn't over yet. The former VfB Stuttgart captain, who did not see his contract renewed last season, has been keeping fit with the FC Viktoria Köln squad since last summer as he waited for a call to come in.

The time has apparently come. Germany's preeminent footballing publication now confirms reports appearing earlier in the day from the country's main sporting tabloid. Relegation-threatened Arminia Bielefeld will give the veteran a contract through the end of the season.

Castro has made 409 top flight appearances in parts of 16 seasons with Stuttgart, Dortmund, and Bayer 04 Leverkusen. In his last active years, he's worked primary as a six, but can still play at the eight position.
