Cestic signs with Croatian club, Frankfurt target same club's captain

Recently released 1. FC Köln defender Sava Arangel Cestic officially signed with Croatian club HNK Rijeka on Tuesday, putting to rest any rumors that he might remain in German football. 

German footballing magazine Kicker nevertheless reports that Eintracht Frankfurt are looking to ply an attacker away from the very same club. 
Offenbach am Main native Sava Arangel Cestic declared himself pleased to play his future football in Croatia on Tuesday. The 20-year-old former Knappenschmiede product was given his outright release by 1. FC Köln just last Friday. Despite some rumors that SpVgg Greuther Fürth and Hansa Rostock were interested, Cestic opted for a club that fit him better in the form of Croatia's HNK Rijeka.



Coincidentally enough, German footballing magazine Kicker reports that a top tier German football club is looking to ply a central defender from the very same team; the club's captain in point of fact. The SGE are said to be negotiating to bring Hrvoje Smolcic, a Croatian youth international, to Germany for the 2022/23 campaign. Kicker reports that talks center around a fee of €2-3 million.
