Hertha BSC have been boosted by the news that Peter Pekarik is fit enough to play against local rivals Union Berlin tomorrow.

The veteran right-back has shaken off the knock he picked up in training earlier this week. Meanwhile, there is still a question mark over Niklas Stark.

"Peter Pekarík is fit and can definitely play," said Hertha coach Felix Magath at the pre-match press conference.

"But we'll have to wait until after training this afternoon to see if Niklas Stark is ready. The rest of the squad are fit and have trained well this week," added Magath, who is looking forward to the derby at the Olympiastadion.

"A full house and the right atmosphere in the stadium! I'm really looking forward to the derby! I've usually done quite well in derbies. Union's game is based on mentality - they'll apply pressure from early on, but we're prepared for it."
