Fantasy Bundesliga: Must-haves and differentials for Matchday 3

Ahead of Matchday 3, we have highlighted a must-have player (M) and a differential pick (D) from each game that you should consider for your Fantasy Bundesliga team.
Borussia Mönchengladbach v. Hertha BSC:

M: Marcus Thuram, Forward (BMG, 10.7M, 7%) - Thuram has had a fantastic start to the season, scoring two goals and grabbing an assist as well. Double digit Fantasy points in both match days puts him as the second best Fantasy player to start the season behind Musiala.

D: Dodi Lukébakio, Forward (BSC, 7.4M, 0%) - One of the few bright spots on this Hertha squad, Lukébakio has started and played the full 90 minutes two games in a row for the first time in almost a year. When healthy, he truly succeeds, proven by his goal and assist so far this season.

Borussia Dortmund v. SV Werder Bremen:

M: Raphaël Guerreiro, Defender (BVB, 12.4M,11%) - A solid start for one of the premier fullbacks in the league. Scoring 20 Fantasy points over the first two matches without a goal or an assist shows the impact Guerreiro can still have on the match. He could have even larger returns in an enticing matchup with newly promoted Bremen.

D: Niclas Füllkrug, Forward (SVW, 5.4M, 2%) - Füllkrug is certainly enjoying his time back in the Bundesliga, not wasting any time and grabbing a goal in each of the first two matchdays. Bremen will not shy away from their aspirations this year and Füllkrug can take full advantage of that.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen v. TSG Hoffenheim:

M: Moussa Diaby, Forward (B04, 13.3M, 7%) - Leverkusen is too good of a team to start off with three straight losses. Last matchday they were unlucky to not come away with three points. Diaby had four shots with three on target, as well as five chances created. Just a matter of time before things start going Leverkusen’s way.

D: Robert Skov, Forward (TSG, 7.5M, 0%) - Skov could have a resurgent season with more playing time than he was awarded last. He has already grabbed one goal to start the year and has one of the deadliest free kicks in the league, if not the world.

VfL Wolfsburg v. FC Schalke 04:

M: Maximilian Arnold, Midfielder (WOB, 11.1M, 2%) - A tough matchup last weekend against Bayern will spoil any opponent’s Fantasy ambitions. A much easier game against Schalke should give us more to contemplate with Wolfsburg. Arnold will be the key service provider and should be on the scoresheet in some way at the final whistle.

D: Max Kruse, Forward (WOB, 11M, 1%) - Upset with his role at the moment, a big game could be what sways their new coach, Nico Kovac, in favor of starting the journeyman more often. Kruse needs to back up his talk if he is awarded the opportunity to show what he can do this weekend.

FC Augsburg v. 1. FSV Mainz 05:

M: Karim Onisiwo, Forward (M05, 9.5M, 3%) - A blistering first game of the season, Onisiwo came back to earth during matchday two but still was able to manage two shots on goal and two chances created. An interesting matchup with Augsburg should produce a few goals as Mainz look to continue their solid start.

D: Andre Hahn, Midfielder (FCA, 7M, 1%) - A goal as a sub last week should earn Hahn his starting job back up front. Always a threat to score, an added bonus is Hahn will play forward even as listed as a midfielder.

VfB Stuttgart v. Sport-Club Freiburg:

M: Christian Günter, Defender (SCF, 12.5M, 15%) - Other than their uncharacteristic second half collapse to Dortmund last week, Freiburg have had a promising start to the season. Günter has continued his stellar attacking play from last year, sending in 17 crosses in the first two games. We should expect a lot of assists this year from Günter.

D: Saša Kalajdžić, Forward (VFB, 12.2M, 1%) - Still a massive differential at only 1% ownership, Kalajdžić has had a strong start to the season, notching three assists in his first two games. The goals should start coming soon but there may be a new part of his game that shines this year.

1. FC Union Berlin v. RB Leipzig:

M: Timo Werner, Forward (RBL, 14.1M, 4%) - If Leipzig get the same Werner they had before he left for Chelsea, they may finally have what it takes to finish the season at the top. If the Werner and Nkunku connection can blossom, it could be Fantasy gold.

D: Rani Khedira, Midfielder (FCU, 6.2M, 1%) - Khedira had solid Fantasy outings over the last two match days, scoring eight and then six points, without a goal or an assist to prop up the score. He will be an everyday starter all season for Union.

Eintracht Frankfurt v. 1. FC Köln:

M: Florian Kainz, Midfielder (KOE, 8.6M, 12%) - Kainz has played phenomenally in the first two games, scoring a goal and an assist to help Köln to fourth place in the current standings. A stalwart of the midfield all last season, we should see much of the same this year.

D: Florian Dietz, Forward (KOE, 1.5M, 2%) - The Köln academy product has been filling in for injuries and has looked great in replacement. A goal last weekend and nine shots overall in two games will only help his confidence. Ride him while he is hot and in the lineup.

VfL Bochum 1848 v. FC Bayern München:

M: Alphonso Davies, Defender (FCB, 15.4M, 34%) - Everyone at Bayern has been playing very well to start the new campaign. Davies, however, is yet to really reap the Fantasy rewards so far compared to his teammates. His time will come soon enough.

D: Simon Zoller, Forward (BOC, 5.3M, 0%) - Bochum might be able to snag a goal off Bayern and Zoller would be the man to do it. He did grab two goals off six shots last weekend so nothing is impossible.
