Marco Rose: "It was a brilliant evening for Leipzig"

RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose has shared his thoughts on Tuesday's 3-2 victory over Real Madrid.
RB Leipzig took a huge step towards advancing to the last 16 of the Champions League with an impressive 3-2 victory over defending champions Real Madrid at Red Bull Arena last night.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Leipzig coach Marco Rose was naturally overjoyed with his side's performance and win.

"It was a brilliant evening for Leipzig. We played really well, our opening 35 minutes were fantastic and we were ahead 2-0," said Rose and added:

"It was obvious that Real were then going to show their class and they made us run a lot. But we defended tirelessly and we won our duels. We dealt with everything in the second half and it was an open game. I think we didn’t allow them much. I'm very pleased with today's performance and I'm happy that the boys believed in themselves and rewarded themselves."

The win leaves Leipzig in second place of Group F, one point behind Real Madrid and three points clear of third-placed Shakhtar Donetsk, who they will face in Warsaw in their sixth and last group stage game.

"Despite the win, we know that we're not through the group. We have to try and take the final step in Warsaw," noted Rose.
