Official: Heidenheim snap up Osnabrück fullback

Newly promoted Bundesliga side 1. FC Heidenheim officially unveiled VfL Osnabrück fullback Omar Haktab Traoré as a new signing on Wednesday afternoon.
One of two rumored deals involving newly promoted Bundesligists 1. FC Heidenheim is officially through. The BaWü border club have secured the services of 25-year-old German-Togolese fullback Omar Haktab Traoré for the coming season. The Osnabrück native heads south on a free transfer following his academy club's promotion to the third division.

Traoré is the third player to join FCH on a free this summer. Nikola Dovedan and Benedikt Gimber have already been procured for the coming season in the top flight. Traoré contested all 36 3. Liga fixtures for Osnabrück last season, also contributing offensively with an impressive three goals and six assists.

"Omar impressed us a lot in the past season at Osnabrück," FCH personnel boss Robert Strauß commented in a statement accompanying the signing, "He was one of the top right-backs in the 3. Liga and, in addition, managed the promotion to the 2. Bundesliga with VfL. At 25 years-of-age, he is still capable of development and we hope that he will take the next step in the Bundesliga together with us."

"It was of course nice to return to my hometown club two years ago and then to be able to celebrate such successes with VfL," the player known as "HaKo - who took a brief career detour through KFC Uerdingen - added, "I now want to take the momentum from the promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga with me to Heidenheim. I'm looking forward to the team and my first season in the Bundesliga, and I'm going to give it my all to repay the trust that's been placed in me."
