Freiburg award Atubolu another new contract: "We will support him."

German Europa League representatives SC Freiburg left little doubt as to their faith young keeper in Noah Atubolu, gracing the 21-year-old with his second new contract inside of 12 months on Thursday afternoon.
Having already bumped Germany U21 national team starting goalkeeper Noah Atubolu up a pay grade with a contract extension last October, SC Freiburg have raised the salary-level of the club's new #1 yet again. The move constitutes a clear statement from die Breisgauer. Freiburg's administrative team wished to demonstrate that they held the utmost confidence in the youngster to tend their net.

Atubolu will also officially wear the #1 tricot following Mark Flekken's move to Brentford earlier this summer. The young prospect has still yet to make a league appearance for the SCF senior side, though he has started two DFB-Pokal matches. It stands to reason that Freiburg also wished to raise not only Atubolu's salary, but also his confidence levels after the recent disappointing UEFA U21 European Championship.

SCF personnel boss Klemens Hartenbach expressed confidence in Atubolu ahead of his "weighty task" of starting between the sticks for a UEL side. Hartenbach also lauded the Freiburg-native's progression through the club's youth ranks and emphasized that the front office stood fully behind their homegrown product.

"Noah has been working his way to this point step-by-step," Hartenbach noted, "Quality, willingness to perform, and self-confidence are there. A bit of luck is also needed now. Noah will now progress through the business like others before him. We will be there when he needs support."

"I am a Freiburg boy through-and-through and have experienced a lot with the club," Atubolu himself is quoted as saying on the club's website, "There was always a clear plan and I'm happy that we're pursuing it. I have an appetite for more."
