TSG Hoffenheim have confirmed the signing of former Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst on a season-long loan deal from Burnley FC.

"I don't think I'm exaggerating when I describe this transfer as remarkable and extraordinary. In any case, that's what he is for us," said Hoffenheim director of professional football Alexander Rosen.

"The fact that a striker with this CV and these options has chosen TSG Hoffenheim shows that this club also has an appeal for renowned players," Rosen continued.

Weghorst himself revealed that he chose Hoffenheim over a number of other clubs.

"I had a few options and have been thinking a lot about my future over the past few weeks. The people in charge at TSG have made an enormous effort to help me and have shown me a high level of appreciation. That really impressed me and it just feels right to be here now. It's even nicer that all the talks have now been concluded positively and the transfer to TSG has been completed," said the 31-year-old Dutch striker.

"I want to repay the trust placed in me on the pitch and make my contribution to a successful season."
