A rumored significant transfer involving Germany's green company team has been confirmed. Danish fullback Joakim Mæhle will be moving to Germany's northern "Autostadt" from Atalanta Bergamo for a transfer fee of around €12 million. The 37-times-capped Danish international can play on both flanks either as a fullback or a wingback. Wolfsburg were known to be on the market for a new fullback after Frenchman Nicolas Cozza turned in a disappointing training camp.

"We are very pleased that Joakim has chosen VfL Wolfsburg," VfL sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz remarked in a statement, "He is a very experienced player who can occupy both the right and left side of the defensive chain. His quality and experience will help the team and I am sure that we will enjoy him a lot in the future."

For me, the move to Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga is a challenge that I'm really looking forward to," the 26-year-old himself added, "Over the past few years, I've been able to gain an incredible amount of experience at the highest level in Serie A. Now I want to prove myself in the Bundesliga and I will do everything I can to settle into my new environment as quickly as possible."
