First goal for Kane, brace for Sane as Bayern thrash Werder in Bundesliga opener
Harry Kane scored his first goal for Bayern Munich and Leroy Sane netted a brace as the German champions opened their Bundesliga campaign with a 4-0 win over Werder Bremen.
Bayern Munich bounced back from their Super Cup loss to RB Leipzig with a 4-0 win over Werder Bremen in tonight's Bundesliga opener.
New Bundesliga record signing Harry Kane made his first start for the Bavarians and needed just four minutes to provide the assist for the German champions' opener.
Leroy Sané exchanged passes with Kane at the halfway line and raced in behind Werder's high defensive line before coolly slotting the ball past Jiri Pavlenka.
Five minutes later, Werder looked to have put a spanner in Bayern's works when Niclas Füllkrug found the back of the net, but the goal was ruled out as the Werder striker was offside.
Bayern went on the hunt for a second goal, and Kingsley Coman came closest to doubling the lead on the hour mark when his shot hit the post.
Then, on 78 minutes, Kane scored his first Bundesliga goal. Alphonso Davies raced down the left before picking out the England international, who controlled the ball well before unleashing a shot that flew past Pavlenka and into the net.
Kane was replaced by Thomas Muller in the 84th minute, and the veteran set up Leroy Sané for the second goal of the night with just minutes remaining.
But Bayern weren't done yet and added a fourth through another substitute, Mathys Tel, who found the bottom corner with an unstoppable effort four minutes into stoppage time.
