Reports: Klose not an option for Lautern coaching job, Grammozis might sign on

German broadcaster "Sport1" reports that Miroslav Klose is no longer a candidate for the vacant 1. FC Kaiserslautern trainer position. Sky Germany, meanwhile, notes that club manager Thomas Hengen remains interested in bringing in a former player to coach the team.
Rumors linking German footballing legend Miroslav Klose with the head-coaching position at his former club are, according to German broadcaster "Sport1", not likely to lead to an appointment. The German cable broadcaster and others report that FCK managing director Thomas Hengen met with Klose prior to the decision to terminate trainer Dirk Schuster, neither party considered an engagement a good fit.

Hengen nevertheless remains interested in bringing in a former player to coach the team. In point of fact, Sky Germany reports that Hengen is interested in brining in his one-time former teammate Dimitrios Grammozis. The former SV Darmstadt 98 and FC Schalke 04 head-coach has been without a job since Schalke dismissed him late in the 2021/22 2. Bundesliga campaign.

After Nenad Bjelica's installation at 1. FC Union Berlin last weekend, Grammozis would be the second 1. FC Kaiserslautern player from the early aughts to ink a German coaching contract in the past week. Grammozis, Hengen, and Bjlica all represented the Pfälzer "rote Teufel" between 2001 and 2004 in the German top flight.
