Baumgart appointed new Hamburger SV coach
Hamburger SV have appointed Steffen Baumgart as their new head coach.
Steffen Baumgart has been confirmed as the new coach of Hamburger SV.
The former FC Köln coach takes over from Tim Walter, who was recently relieved of his duties at the 2. Bundesliga club.
"Steffen Baumgart is known for his emotional style. We have to keep up the fire that we have ignited and continue on our path," said HSV board member Jonas Boldt.
Baumgart, who was dismissed as Köln coach at the end of 2023, is relishing the challenge.
"I am really looking forward to being here and to the big challenge. I'll start working with the guys right away. The goal is clear, there's no need to beat around the bush: promotion," said Baumgart.
HSV are currently third in the 2. Bundesliga, seven points behind leaders and city rivals FC St. Pauli.
