RB Leipzig boss discusses futures of Olmo, Simons and Henrichs

Rouven Schröder has addressed the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Dani Olmo, Xavi Simons and Benjamin Henrichs.
RB Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schröder has expressed his hopes of keeping Xavi Simons, Dani Olmo and Benjamin Henrichs beyond the summer.

Xavi Simons is on loan from Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the season, with Leipzig hoping to extend the agreement for another year.

"The fact is, he feels fundamentally comfortable with us. Normally it would be a no-go to loan a player for a year without a buyout option. But he is so good that he helps us in any case," Schröder told Kicker.

"He really appreciates this place, where he can be Xavi. This calmness is our foundation. As I said: Let's enjoy the best season we can with a player like him. And when the time comes, we will intensify our fight for him."

Olmo is under contract until 2027, but it's been reported that he can leave via a €60 million release clause - if he wants to.

"All I can say is that he feels incredibly comfortable with us. He hasn't just been here for six months and isn't just passing through, he's been playing for us for four years now.

"On the other hand, it is clear that difference-makers like Dani are in demand everywhere. Ultimately, we are relaxed because we are enjoying what we have with the boys. And because we are convinced that nobody will give up what they have in Leipzig easily."

As for Henrichs, Schröder confirmed that Leipzig have offered the right-back a new contract, which he hopes will be signed. If not, the Germany international will be sold this summer.

"We want him to stay here. He is an important player and very valuable for the team integration. We have therefore made him a very, very valuable offer. Both sides have agreed not to enter the final year of his contract," revealed the Leipzig boss.
