Report: Klinsmann wanted to bring Mesut Özil and Lukas Podolski to Hertha

Apparently, Mesut Özil and Lukas Podolski were among Jürgen Klinsmann's transfer targets before he stepped down as Hertha coach.
Jürgen Klinsmann was looking into the possibility of signing former German internationals Mesut Özil and Lukas Podolski before resigning as Hertha BSC coach last week, according to Kicker.

The report claims that Klinsmann also targeted Mario Götze, Julian Draxler as well as Emre Can, who ended up joining Borussia Dortmund.

Additionally, the 55-year-old reportedly suggested players from the American Major League Soccer and the Scottish Premiership.

Hertha completed the signings of Santiago Ascacibar, Matheus Cunha, Krzysztof Piatek and Lucas Tousart in January.
