Dortmund still hopeful of Hakimi stay

Borussia Dortmund remain hopeful that Real Madrid loanee Achraf Hakimi will stay beyond the summer. His future isn't expected to be sorted out anytime soon, though.
Borussia Dortmund are still hoping to keep Achraf Hakimi beyond the end of his loan deal.

As things stand, Hakimi will be heading back to his parent club Real Madrid this summer, but BVB are still hoping to hold on to him.

"I'm sticking to the facts. Achraf has a contract with Real Madrid," said BVB sporting director Michael Zorc in an interview with Kicker and added:

"But nothing has been decided yet. We can still imagine Hakimi staying at Dortmund."

But with the Spanish La Liga season scheduled to finish in the middle of July, the 21-year-old's future isn't expected to be sorted out anytime soon.

"There will definitely be no decision before the Spaniards have finished the season," said Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke.

Hakimi joined Dortmund on a two-year loan deal in 2018.
